Jerry’s Story
I am in the minority in my family! I do not carry the ALS gene when 6 out of 9 of my brothers and sisters do!
I will always remember the day I found out I did not carry the ALS gene deformity. It was February 14th, 2020, and I was on St. George Island, Florida. With familial ALS, you always feel you have the disease – until you do not.
The happiest moment in my life was telling my two children that they were free of this devastating disease! For the young these results can be life changing.
Within our family, 18 of my nieces and nephews received the opposite news and will live life with the knowledge that this disease, that they have seen firsthand, is a 50/50 possibility for them. I believe that myself, and my family were spared so we could support them, and you can help too!
